GIVINGS & DONATIONS.  While you are unable to attend weekly Church services, please remember your weekly givings are still very important.

We would like to take a minute to remind you that now would be a good time to sign up for Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR) where your givings could be deducted from your bank account monthly and direct paid to the church’s bank account – if you’re interested in this method of contributing, call the office to make arrangements.  Also, you can drop off your envelopes/cheques/cash givings at the church office any morning during the week, just call ahead to ensure you have access (and remember we have a mail slot in the Dundas Street Door access).

Another method is to send us an E-Transfer with online banking. If this is new to you, just follow these steps:
1) You need to be set up for On-line banking.
2) After signing in to your On-Line banking account, the menu (normally on left side) should have an option for E-Transfer – click on it.
3) You will need to add contact (Sydenham-Heritage U.C.) and method of contact (church email address
4) Select the account you wish money to be taken from as well as the amount and insert in appropriate boxes.
5) Message is optional (can indicate where you want money to go e.g. General Funds, Benevolent fund, etc.).
6) Then you need to select a question from list or make up your own (e.g. “what is this for”) and then insert answer with no spaces in appropriate box.
7) Click Send.
8) Final but very important step is to send an email to Norma ( with the answer.

You also have a forth method to continue your givings.  Sydenham-Heritage United Church is now registered with which is an on-line donation platform that will allow you to donate to any Canadian registered charity.  Keep in mind that when you donate through this platform, your tax receipt will be from Canada Helps and that donation will not appear on your Sydenham-Heritage tax receipt, but your donation does go to the Church’s general account.

Pastoral Care

If you know of anyone in our church family who may be in need of Pastoral Care due to illness, the death of a loved one, etc. please contact Rev. Bill MacKinnon or let the office know by phone or email. He would rather hear about it multiple times than not at all.

To All Groups/Individuals:
If you use china cups or any dishes, please wash, dry and put away after use. It is not the custodian’s job to do this on your behalf.

Your Communications Team is very excited about an upcoming audio/visual project they have started working on and would very much like to include contributions from our church family in this process.

We would love to have your contributions of videos and photos that show life at Sydenham-Heritage, special events, services, field trips, dinners, auctions, concerts, anything that shows our church family interacting and working together.
Keep in mind that we will be sharing the photos/videos that you provide for this project on social media platforms, so you would need to consent to having your photos/videos shared when you provide them to us. For this reason, any photos/videos used will not include children.

Being Good Neighbours – Please do not block anyone’s driveway in the vicinity of the church.


Please don’t leave things in the kitchen or borrow anything from the kitchen without checking with Shelley or Aileen.
Also, if disposable dishes or cutlery are needed for a function please purchase paper not styrofoam (let’s remember the environment), but before purchasing please check with Shelley or Aileen to see if we already have any that you can use.


Please make note if you wish to borrow any dishes, equipment, furnishings from the church you MUST contact Aileen in the office either by email, phone or in person with your request. There is no problem as long as they are not needed when you want to borrow them and they are returned on time.

Please be conscious of the sensitivity of others, please avoid the use of strongly scented products.

We are trying to avoid fundraisers being too close together, especially similar events. Also, to enable Aileen as much time as possible to create posters, print tickets, get it advertised, and of course we want people to know well enough ahead so they can plan to attend.
Step 1: Call Aileen in the office to find out if the date you want for your fundraiser is available (it will be penciled in on the calendar)
Step 2: Fill out the BOOKING FORM (on clipboard outside office)
Step 3: Have the event booking form approved & initialed by the Stewardship Committee (Shelley, Cindy or Verna)
Step 4: Hand form into the office within 2 weeks of Step 1 at which time it is then written in red ink on the calendar and officially booked.


If you are working with any of our youth you are required to have a police check which includes the vulnerable sector check. The cost is $20 and will be reimbursed to you. Please see Aileen in the office to get a letter to take to the police station.


We’re looking for anyone interested in helping with running the sound & video systems for Sunday Services, Funerals, Weddings, drama productions etc. If you are interested please contact the office.
